How to file GST with a digital signature?

It is mandatory for every company registered in India to file GST returns. Companies can file GST returns both offline and online. Filing GST returns online using digital signature through the GST portal is very convenient as compared to the conventional offline mode.

Following are the steps to file GST returns with a DSC:

Step 1: Visit the official GST portal and log in using your username and password.

Step 2: You will receive a 15-digit unique identification number based on your state code and PAN number.

Step 3: You have to upload your GST invoices. Then you will receive a reference number against each invoice.

Step 4: Click on 'Return Dashboard' and enter the return filing period and financial year.

Step 5: Select the returns you wish to file and check all the details. Fill the amount required and late fee if any. Then press 'Save' to save the details entered and click on 'Submit'.

Step 6: Click on 'Payment of Tax' and check your credit balance. Then click on 'Offset Liability' to initiate the GST payment process and press "Ok".

Step 7: Select the declaration checkbox. Then select the Authorized Signatory from the drop-down menu and click on the type of GST return that you wish to file like GSTR 1, GSTR 2, GSTR 3, etc. Click on 'Proceed' on seeing the warning message.

Step 8: Select the certificate and click the Sign button. Then a success message will be displayed confirming the successful filing of your GST return.
